This grown up hot chocolate gets a kick of orange flavor from Cointreau and orange zest. It reminds me of those Terry’s chocolate oranges that are popular as stocking stuffers.

INGREDIENTS
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 8 oz whole milk
- big pinch of salt
- big pinch of orange zest
- 1 oz bourbon
- .5 oz Cointreau
- Marshmallows and orange zest, for optional garnish
DIRECTIONS
STEP 1
Add cocoa powder, sugar, salt and 2 tablespoons of milk to a pot and over medium-low. Whisk together until smooth.
STEP 2
Add the rest of the milk. Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the orange zest. Whisk frequently.
STEP 3
Once the cocoa is steaming hot, turn off the heat. Add the bourbon and Cointreau, stir and serve immediately.

- 48 oz whole milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
- 6 oz bourbon
- 3 oz Cointreau
- Marshmallows and orange zest, for optional garnish

Once the cocoa is steaming hot, turn off the heat. Add the bourbon and Cointreau and stir to combine. Serve immediately or add to a thermos or insulated growler.
