This past weekend took a ferry over to Bainbridge, then headed up a couple hours to Sequim, a little town on the Olympic peninsula. They were hosting Lavender Fest, a street fair and tour of the lavender farms in the area. We got our map and tickets and headed out to the first farm; Jardin du Soleil, a French-style lavender farm. It was absolutely beautiful. The smell in the air was wonderful. Plus the band played Waltz Across Texas and I got all teary eyed for Texas.
Next was the Washington Lavender Farm. It was a colonial style mansion with beautiful grounds on a cliffside overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuaca. There was performers in period costumes and great antique cars.
We hit three more farms all with their own themes and range of lavender types. Plus Kim got to pet and hold all kinds of fun barnyard animals like a duck, calf, baby bunny and a chicken.
