I originally created this cocktail for a live video tutorial on summertime drinks. My mom and aunt watched the episode, mixed up a batch, and called to tell me about the fun they were having together. In that moment I was reminded—the heart of my cocktail passion is about bringing people together. Perfect Touch is dedicated to sisters, to connecting over drinks, and enjoying small, meaningful moments in life.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 oz white rum
- 1 oz lime juice
- 1 oz basil simple syrup
- 2 strawberries, remove stems and quarter
- 3 tablespoons blueberries
- 2 oz sparkling water
- Strawberry & basil sprig, for garnish
DIRECTIONS
STEP 1
Make the simple syrup by combining 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a pot over high heat. Watch carefully and stir often until the sugar has dissolved and the liquid is clear. Be careful not to let it boil.
Once dissolved and clear, remove from heat, add a small handful of basil leaves and stir. Let the leaves steep for about 20 minutes, or until desired flavor is achieved. Allow the simple syrup to cool before using.
Store leftover simple syrup in airtight container in the fridge for about 2 weeks.
STEP 2
Add the blueberries, strawberries, lime juice, and Basil Simple Syrup to a tall glass. Muddle a few times to break up the fruit and mix the ingredients.
STEP 3
Add the rum and fill the glass with ice. Then top with sparkling water and stir. Garnish with a lime wedge or strawberry and basil leaf.
Try substituting other fruit such as raspberries or blackberries, and try mixing with Mint Simple Syrup instead of Basil.
