I recently became a Seattle Art Museum member just to get a sneak peek during the Member Preview event for Yves Saint Laurent: The Perfection of Style exhibit. The show officially opens today, October 11, and runs until January 8.
It’s beautiful and inspiring. The walls of the gallery are lined with his sketches and swatches. The pieces on display are works of art—truly perfection. My favorite part was seeing the sketches and swatches and how they came to life in the actual garment.
To experience the beauty for yourself, grab your ticket here. Tickets are $24.95, but free to SAM members. You need to reserve the date/time you plan to visit (even if you’re a member). Then, let me know what you liked best about the exhibit!

The Dahlia end-of-day dress.
The Elephant blanc short evening dress. Photos don’t begin to do it justice—you have to see it for yourself.

Hats!
Evening gown. Homage to Tom Wesselman.
Cocktail dresses. Homage to Pop Art.
Breathtaking display of costume jewelry. I’ll take one of each, please.
Fabric swatches leading the way.
Cocktail dress. Homage to Piet Mondrian. My favorite! And, if anyone out there wants to lend me, buy me, Will me, or find me a Mondrian Dress, I’d be eternally, humbly, grateful. I’m dying to have one. Seriously. I need one.
And, if you want to nerd-out a little more (like I did) you should watch the 2014 biopic, Yves Saint Laurent, available on Netflix.
