Try this spin on the traditional Manhattan made with Averna, an Italian Amaro, instead of sweet vermouth. This Italian liqueur’s bittersweet and herbal notes make it perfect for sipping at happy hour or after dinner as a digestif.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 oz Rye Whiskey
- 1 oz Averna
- 1 dash Orange Bitters
- 1 dash Angostura Bitters
- Cherry for garnish
DIRECTIONS
STEP 1
Add all ingredients together with ice. Stir for about 20 seconds, until cold and combined.
STEP 2
Strain into a coupe. Garnish with a cherry (or three). Put on some Jazz and sip slowly.
