Right now I’m obsessed with the bitter-sweetness of Campari mixed with just about anything—Mezcal, Bourbon, Gin, bubbles—you get the point. I’ve read that in order to like Campari you need to try it three times, and then you’ll love it. So, if you’re a little skeptical, give it another try (or two) starting with this cocktail that combines Campari with Bourbon and Cynar (another bitter liqueur in the Amaro category).

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • .5 oz Cynar
  • .5 oz Campari
  • Orange peel for garnish

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1
Add all ingredients together with ice. Stir for about 20 seconds, until cold and combined.

STEP 2
Strain into a coupe or rocks glass and serve neat. Light a match over the cocktail, then express the oils of the orange by squeezing it over the flame. The flame should spark a little. Then garnish with peel.
