summertime-bourbon-punch

This cocktail is like summer in a glass. Bourbon mingles with lemon juice and in-season strawberries to create a bold yet refreshing punch. Fresh strawberries are only in season for a short time, but you can have that summertime feeling year-round-—purchase ripe strawberries while they’re in season, and freeze for later. Be sure to thaw them out before adding them to the simple syrup.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1½ oz bourbon or rye
  • 1 oz strawberry simple syrup
  • 3/4 oz lemon juice
  • 1 dash Peychaud’s bitters
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • 1 strawberry, for garnish
  • Mint sprig, for garnish

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1
Make the Strawberry Simple Syrup.

STEP 2
Add bourbon, strawberry simple syrup, lemon juice, and bitters to a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds.

STEP 3
Strain into a glass filled with crushed or cubed ice. Garnish with strawberry and mint sprig.
