My hubby and I have a fun holiday tradition with our friends in Seattle—the first weekend in December, we caravan out to a Christmas tree farm, trek across fields looking for our perfect tree, and toast to our friendship over hot toddies. I’ve perfected my version of the Hot Toddy over the last few years—replacing the honey with a ginger simple syrup.

–FOR A BATCH–
(12 servings / 66oz)

INGREDIENTS

  • 750ml bottle of bourbon
  • 24 oz apple cider or juice
  • 6 oz lemon juice (from about 6 lemons)
  • 12 oz Ginger Simple Syrup

DIRECTIONS

Combine all ingredients and heat on the stove or microwave until steaming hot. Serve immediately or transfer to an insulated growler or thermos. Enjoy with friends!

Fun fact: Hot Toddy, also called Scottish Penicillin, has been known to help relieve some symptoms of the common cold.

–SINGLE SERVING–

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 2 oz apple cider
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice (roughly 1/2 lemon)
  • 1 oz Ginger Simple Syrup

Pro Tip: I LOVE the Miir Growler to keep my Toddies hot for 12 hours—and portable . Also, it’s hard to resist this cute blue color!
