This Grapefruit Negroni is a refreshing version of the classic cocktail. The more subtle Aperol replaces the traditional Campari, and the grapefruit plays up both the bitter and sweet ingredients.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 oz Botanist Gin
  • 1 oz Aperol
  • .5 oz Punt e mes
  • .5 Grapefruit Juice
  • 2 Dashes Grapefruit Bitters
  • Flame grapefruit peel, for optional garnish

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1
Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake until very cold, about 30 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass filled with ice.

STEP 2
To garnish, use a peeler to get one long piece of grapefruit peel, without much pith. In one hand, very carefully light a match above the cocktail and with the peel in the other hand, quickly squeeze (outside peel facing down toward flame). You should see the flame spark as the oils are expressed. Put out the flame. Rub the outside of the peel around the edge of the cocktail glass. Twist peel and lay on top as garnish.
