Viewing the tulip blooms in the Skagit Valley near Mount Vernon, Washington.

The Skagit Valley is the world’s largest exporter of tulips (take that Holland!) and every April when the tulips are in full bloom people flood the farming community to view the colorful fields during the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.

On Saturday, we traveled about an hour north of Seattle to Mt. Vernon to see the tulips. Then we headed up the coast line to Bellingham, with a stop at Larrabee State Park. It was the perfect weekend to be outside—70 degrees and sunny! It finally feels like springtime!

On Sunday, we took a knife-skills class at Hipcooks cooking school. It’s located in the same building where Bobby works and I walk past it twice a day. Our instructor Bonny was awesome. Not only did she tailor the class to meet our interests, she’s a great story-teller, super funny and knows everything you could even want to know about knives (the history, the makers, countries of origin, how they are made, and she’s even kinda BFFs with the Wustof family). We learned SO much and even invested in our first legit chef knife! I’m super excited about properly cutting veggies while also knowing how to avoid slicing my fingers off (seriously, my thumbnail may finally get to start growing back).
